Beauty students and their tutors participated in an evening of fundraising and festive spirit in Brentwood last weekend to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer. The event, which coincided with the local Christmas Light celebrations, saw Phil Borley say goodbye to his chest hair in a much-anticipated sponsored chest wax. Slightly more relaxing treatments were made available to members of the public who were pampered from head-to-toe with everything from manicures to spray tans, and mini facials to massages, in return for a donation. A raffle, which offered aspiring beauticians the chance to win training days with the Carlton Institute, also proved a huge success. As the event drew to a close with warming glasses of mulled wine and the switching on of the Christmas lights, fundraisers calculated that a grand total of £1600 had been raised for the cause as part of Pancreatic Cancer UK's national awareness month.
