According to The Telegraph, the nail artist Marian Newman worked on the nails for the cover of Gaga's album, Born This Way. 'The "triple nail" fitted the theme of Born this Way where Gaga changed the contours and planes of her face,' Newman said to The Telegraph. 'I wanted to change the contours of her nails. She was wearing long, tapered nails so I added two further nails in the same shape but angled differently - think of the Sydney Opera House,' she added.

Aya Fukuda is the nail artist responsible for Lady Gaga's nails for the "Born This Way" video. Fukuda talks to Bella Sugar about working so closely with Lady Gaga: "I used a vibrant red and black polish from Priti NYC and finished it off with Swarovski crystals in jet colour and silver metal."
