Jessica Chastain, the Face of YSL’s Manifesto Perfume

Jessica Chastain, who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in The Help, is firmly entrenching herself in the A-list with her first major beauty campaign.

Chastain has been named as the ambassadress for YSL Beauté’s new feminine fragrance Manifesto. Manifesto will launch in France Aug 27 and across Europe in September while the perfume will be available in the US from 2013.

“Yves Saint Laurent is a brand that inspires me deeply. Since its creation, the brand has conveyed strong values that I cherish, such as an unwavering commitment, absolute love and feminine audacity. This new fragrance is an emblem of it all. I am (excited) to be part of this beautiful adventure,” Chastain told Women's Wear Daily.

Commenting on the news, Stephan Bezy, international general manager, YSL Beauté said: “We were won over by the very subtle strength of Jessica Chastain, her solar charm, her free mind. She embodies the quintessence of Saint Laurent’s femininity, a woman of her day and age, independent, determined, never where you expect her to be.”

Jessica Chastain will join fellow actress Emily Blunt - the face of the brand's famous Opium fragrance - as a YSL fragrance ambassadress.

According to Cosmetics Business, “Manifesto is described as a free spirited scent, combining jasmine, lily of the valley and blackcurrant with notes of cedar, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean.”

The Hollywood beauty isn't the only breakthrough star to have caught the eye of a major perfumer. True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgard is set to front Calvin Klein's new men's fragrance, "Encounter," which will debut this September.
